Winston Holloway, an inmate of the Arkansas Department of Correction, brought this action under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 against various officials and employees of the Department. He claimed violations of the Eighth Amendment, as applied to the states by the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The District Court granted summary judgment for defendants.
